Nose

Light and crisp, classic lowland maltiness, vanilla, zesty lemon and sour apples interwoven with a coastal salinity and soft peat smoke.

Palate

Soft mouthfeel, initially quite punchy but then mellows with the sweet candy, vanilla and zesty lemon controlling the palate. Soft smoke lingers. I prefer this dram neat. I found water brings out the spice / youthfulness of the whisky. White pepper and the peat turning more medicinal rather than soft smoke. The finish is clean with the malt lingering on the palate with the coastal salinity always present.

Maturation

Ex Islay barrels and peated quarter casks, presumed to be from Laphroig given the presence of tge Qtr Cask and the medicinal profile of the peat.
